My Newest Workshop...

Neuro Athletics for Singers!
from 2 to 4hrs*
Are you curious about Neuro Athletics and how it can help singers? My newest workshop has been tried and tested with outstanding results! Learn the basics of the brain and nervous system, then jump right in to explore drills for the diaphragm, memory, tongue, face, ears, eyes and more! Find your own high-payoff drills and where your brain needs you to keep up the practice to be the best performer you can be!
Best suited to advanced singers and teachers. *Optional masterclass add-on where singers get to work one-on-one with Amie

Belting is Your Birthright!
from 2 to 4hrs*
One of my most popular workshops, this one is for those who want to learn to belt or teach belting. Belting is a vocal colour common in contemporary music (pop/rock/jazz, etc) and Musical Theatre styles, but also in music from around the world. If you've ever been curious to try belting or add to your different belt colours (yes, there are more than one!) then this workshop is for you! Participants will learn how and when to use belt sounds in various styles of music through listening, we'll do a little dive into acoustic science and microphones, we'll discuss the function of the voice and body when we do make belt sounds (and how to have a "healthy belt"), and of course, get belting! Participants will leave with tools and exercises to help them to learn to belt more efficiently, higher, and with different colours.
*Optional masterclass add-on where singers get to work one-on-one with Amie to try out, refine or even learn to teach belt

Voice 101
1-3hrs*
My most popular workshop! At your first piano lesson, you look inside the piano and learn how it works, right!? Finally - a workshop that does the same for Voice Users! Participants take an inside look at how the voice works. We'll discuss the many relationships in the body that work together to create your own unique and beautiful voice, how your brain processes sounds, and what those warm-ups are REALLY doing to train your voice! Participants will leave with resources to better train their voice & body, a personal self-assessment of where you're at today so that you can track your growth, as well as a list of exercises and an explanation of how and why they work to make you a healthy & life-long singer!
*This workshop can be expanded to include The Aging Voice, diet & nutrition, different vocal styles, how neuroscience is changing the way we think about singing and training the voice, and more.

The Aging Voice
1-2hrs*
One of my most popular workshops, this one is for anyone who sings (or doesn't!) - any age, any ability. Because everyone's voice changes as we age! Popular among choirs, this is also a great opportunity for parents to learn how their little singing stars will experience many voice changes as they grow into adulthood, and ways to help them to support their children through those changes. We start with a basic understanding of the voice and how it functions, and then we'll discuss how it changes - from our first breath to our last. Hormones, medications, brain health and more all come into play as we understand how to navigate these changes and keep our voices healthy, singing and loved for our entire lives. Participants will leave with resources & exercises for training through change, and will learn to love voice cracks!
*This workshop can be easily tailored to meet the needs of your specific group and age demographic.

Singing and General Health
1.5hrs
First developed for students in a pre-med program, this workshop is packed full of science to feed the voice nerd in you! Geared toward health industry professionals, singers, teachers and 16yr+ ensemble directors, we will explore the basic mechanics of the voice and how singing impacts some of the systems of the body, including the respiratory, digestive and nervous systems. We'll also discuss the effects of singing and music on mental & emotional health. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the voice/body/mind connection and tools to help strengthen these connections for themselves and for others.
5
Starting Your Own Music Studio
1.5hrs
Geared toward singers and instrumentalists who are looking to either start or "level-up" their own private studio or music school, this workshop gives entrepreneurs insight and resources to help them navigate what it is to be a business-owner & find financial stability. We also explore ways to find work/life balance as a musician so you can continue to perform while providing a high level of training for your students and building long-lasting relationships - which, in turn, continue to feed your business. Lots of time for Q&A and a lengthy list of resources is provided to participants to help them continue to grow their studio & skills.
6
You Got Style!
1.5hrs
This workshop is geared toward teachers, accompanists who work with singers, and singers of ANY & ALL styles! Through lots of listening (and singing!) participants will learn why you can't use a Beyonce riff in Baroque ornamentation, why jazz standards from the musical theatre repertoire don't sound like musical theatre, and so much more! We will dive a little into the history of sound amplification and the role it has played in developing various style-isms. Participants will have fun as we play with our voices, and everyone will leave with exercises to help them develop their own style!
